Yes. Mid Maine Generator is fully licensed to install propane and natural gas lines for your standby generator. We recommend servicing your standby generator once a year at a minimum. If your system runs frequently due to outages, semi-annual service may be beneficial. Regular maintenance ensures your generator is ready when power goes out and protects your investment. Higher demand systems or clients who prefer extra peace of mind may choose semi-annual service for added reliability.

Annual service includes an oil and filter change, spark plug replacement, battery check, voltage calibration, frequency confirmation, firmware updates, load test, and a full system inspection. Our certified technicians also check the fuel system, exhaust, and transfer switch to make sure your generator is operating safely. When weather allows, we thoroughly clean both the inside and outside of the generator. We carefully inspect all electrical components inside the generator as well as the transfer switch, and we perform a complete system test of the Automatic Transfer Switch to ensure everything is working together in unison. Each year we strive to be as thorough as possible, so your generator is as close to new as the day it was installed.

Yes. Even if your Kohler generator was purchased elsewhere, our team can service and maintain it. We keep a large inventory of genuine Kohler parts and can provide detailed service records for your unit. Proper maintenance records are increasingly important for warranty claims, so we ensure thorough documentation at every visit.

Yes. Generator batteries typically last 3-5 years. Our battery replacement program ensures your system always has a dependable start during an outage. In practice, we often see batteries fail around year four, so with our plan we recommend replacing the battery every four years. This replacement is an additional cost beyond the annual service fee, but it is far more cost-effective than experiencing a failure during a power outage when your generator critically needs it.

As a Kohler dealer, we are only expected to provide warranty support Monday through Friday during regular business hours, excluding holidays and weekends. This means if an outage or issue occurs outside of those times, warranty coverage alone will not include immediate service. That's why we offer our annual service agreement. With this coverage, you receive 24/365 emergency support and peace of mind knowing that whenever an issue arises, our team will be there to respond.

Generator monitoring is a service that tracks your generator's status 24/7 using a secure online system. With Kohler's remote monitoring app, you and our service team can see alerts for faults, battery status, and runtime hours. While monitoring is helpful, Kohler's current monitoring solutions can sometimes be limited, and we often step in to support customers in ensuring reliable connectivity and response.

Monitoring allows problems to be identified before an outage happens. For example, if the battery voltage drops or a fault code appears, we're notified and can respond quickly. This proactive approach reduces downtime and emergency service calls.

Some troubleshooting can be done remotely, such as resetting alarms or verifying sensor data. In many cases, though, an on-site technician will be dispatched to ensure a proper repair.

Yes. Our members have access to 24/365 emergency generator support. Non-members may be scheduled as availability allows, but members always receive priority. Response times vary based on weather and demand, but customers with an annual service agreement are ensured priority scheduling and faster response during storms. With multiple service trucks on the road across Maine, we aim to minimize downtime for your home or business. One of the key advantages of our program is that we only use in-house emergency phone answering and scheduling. This means that when you call during an outage, you're speaking directly with a certified Mid Maine Generator technician, not a third-party call center. Our experienced technician will first attempt to solve the issue with you over the phone. If it cannot be resolved quickly and safely, we will immediately dispatch a technician to your location to get your generator back online.
