Why Regular Generator Maintenance Matters

Most standby generators only run for a limited number of hours each year. However, when an outage happens, your generator becomes one of the most critical systems in your home.

Routine standby generator maintenance helps:

  • Maximize the useful life of your generator
  • Reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns
  • Identify small problems before they become expensive repairs
  • Improve generator reliability during storms and power outages
  • Support applicable manufacturer warranty requirements
  • Ensure your generator starts and transfers power when utility service fails

Whether Mid Maine Generator installed your generator or another company did, contact our team to confirm service availability for your system.

We Service All Major Standby Generator Brands

  • Generac Generators

No matter which brand protects your home, our goal is the same: to provide dependable generator maintenance that gives you confidence before the next outage.

Generator Battery Coverage

Generator batteries do not last forever. Customers may qualify for additional battery coverage when the maintenance agreement is started within one year of the generator's startup date and remains continuously active.

  • Years one and two: Full generator battery warranty coverage
  • Years three and four: Pro-rated battery replacement
  • After year four: The customer pays for the battery, but replacement labor is covered when the battery is replaced during the annual service visit

Battery coverage is subject to the generator startup date, continuous enrollment, and the terms of the signed maintenance agreement.

Benefits of a Generator Maintenance Agreement

An active annual maintenance agreement makes it easier to keep your standby generator professionally serviced and provides valuable benefits when additional service is needed.

  • One scheduled major maintenance visit each year
  • Priority scheduling over customers without an active agreement
  • Applicable straight-time labor rates for qualifying additional service
  • Customers without an active agreement are subject to labor rates that are 20% higher per hour
  • A written maintenance report after the annual service visit
  • Battery coverage benefits for qualifying continuously enrolled generators
  • Automatic annual renewal for uninterrupted maintenance coverage

The agreement renews automatically on its anniversary date unless either party provides notice. Either party may terminate the agreement with 30 days' written notice. Annual price adjustments may apply, with notice provided before service is performed.

Most scheduled maintenance visits can be completed without the homeowner being present, provided our technician has safe and immediate access to the generator and nearby parking.

Additional Service and Repair Charges

The $400 annual maintenance fee covers only the maintenance services specifically listed in the agreement. Additional repairs, parts, emergency calls, and other work are billed separately on a time-and-materials basis.

  • Service calls not covered by a manufacturer's factory labor warranty are billed at the applicable labor rate.
  • A separate dispatch fee applies to service calls not covered by the manufacturer's factory labor warranty.
  • Customer-requested, non-emergency work outside normal business hours may include applicable overtime or weekend labor charges.
  • All charges are subject to applicable sales tax.

The signed maintenance agreement contains the complete terms and controls the final scope of coverage.

Yes. We service many generators originally installed by other contractors throughout Maine.

We routinely service Kohler, Generac, and Briggs & Stratton standby generators.

Not usually. Most customers are comfortable allowing our technicians to complete scheduled maintenance while they are away. If you would prefer to be present, we are happy to schedule a specific appointment time.

Most residential maintenance appointments are completed in approximately one to two hours, depending on the generator and any repairs that may be needed.

Routine maintenance includes inspection, testing, cleaning, and scheduled service items. If additional repairs are needed, we will discuss those separately before beginning any work.

No. However, many homeowners choose an annual maintenance agreement for convenience, priority scheduling, and the confidence that their generator will be professionally serviced each year.
